Terms of Service
Last updated: July 1, 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and [Clue legal entity] (“Clue,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using Clue, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Clue.
2. Who can use Clue
Clue is for adults 18 years or older. By using Clue you confirm you are 18 or older. We verify age at sign-up and may suspend accounts we believe belong to minors.
3. What Clue is — and what it is not
Clue is a voice-first AI companion for everyday reflection and emotional support. It listens, reflects back, and helps you notice patterns in your own thinking.
- Clue is not medical or mental-health care and is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. It does not provide clinical services, assessment, or advice, and it does not identify, label, or address any medical or psychological condition.
- Clue is an AI, not a human, and is not a licensed professional. It will tell you so, and it never claims otherwise.
- Clue is not for emergencies. If you or someone else may be in danger, contact emergency services (911 in the US) or a crisis line (call or text 988 in the US). Clue can surface these resources but cannot intervene.
- Using Clue does not create any professional, medical, or fiduciary relationship between you and Clue.
4. Recording, transcription & analysis
To work, Clue records and transcribes your sessions and analyzes the transcript to generate reflections and help Clue remember you across sessions. By starting a session you consent to this recording, transcription, and analysis. How we handle this data is described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Your account & acceptable use
You are responsible for activity under your account. You agree not to:
- use Clue for anything unlawful, harmful, or abusive, or to harass or endanger others;
- rely on Clue in place of professional care, emergency services, or your own judgment;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, scrape, or misuse the service or its safety features;
- share your account, or let anyone under 18 use it.
6. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation
- Clue offers a free trial session and a paid Clue Plus subscription (monthly or annual). Prices are shown at checkout and may change with notice.
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. [Refund policy to be finalized.]
- Crisis support is always free and is never placed behind payment.
7. AI-generated content
Clue’s responses, reflections, and reports are generated by AI. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or not right for your situation, and they are not professional advice. Use your own judgment and consult a qualified professional for medical, mental-health, legal, or financial decisions.
8. Intellectual property
Clue and its software, design, and content are owned by us and our licensors. You keep ownership of what you share with Clue (“Your Content”); you grant us a limited license to process Your Content solely to operate and improve the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
Clue is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that Clue will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for any particular purpose, and we make no health or outcome guarantees.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clue and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision you make based on Clue. [Liability cap and any exclusions to be finalized with counsel.]
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Clue harmless from claims arising out of your use of the service or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
12. Suspension & termination
You may stop using Clue and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or to protect users or the service. You can export or delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we’ll give reasonable notice. Continuing to use Clue after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of [state/country], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. [Dispute-resolution / arbitration terms to be finalized.] Questions? Contact us at [contact email].
Clue is not for emergencies. If you’re in crisis or someone may be in danger, — in the US you can call or text 988, or call 911 for immediate danger.
